Major Updates to the Cotton Room

I am so excited about how this room has come together! It feels so cozy!!

And here we are now!!


Since the last picture, I found a new duvet cover (at my new favorite Target clearance store for $10!!), I added the chair which I loveee and found at a thrift store for $12, the blanket, the mirror which was another $8 thrift store find, and the SHUTTER HEADBOARD! I am most excited about that! I got all four old shutter doors at a thrift store for $15..thanks to my friend Lindsay who talked them down for me :) My favorite blog writer, Layla Plamer of The Lettered Cottage wrote an article for HGTV on making a headboard out of shutter doors...if you are interested in seeing how I did it, check it out HERE!





The mirror I painted with white paint...it was a goldy color before.


You can't tell very well in this picture, but I found the curtains at my Target clearance store for $3 each! They are long white linen curtains and look really great in the room! I also found the bedskirt for $5 at the same store :)

The last few things I want to change are still the light fixture, and I plan on doing some letters above the headboard, similar to what Layla did in hers. Overall, I am so excited about how this room is coming along!!

Guest Room Update

Well, the guest room was used this weekend!!!! :) My sister, Lindsey, and her friend Sam were on their way back from working at a camp this summer. They stopped here and stayed for a few days before continuing their trip to Florida. Unfortunately, I have no pics to prove they were here :(. But, before they arrived, I did two more things to the guest room.

1. John helped me hang the curtain, with my $2.50 curtain rod from Pottery Barn Outlet :).



2. John helped me hang this window I found at an old antique store. I think it goes so well behind the bed! I love it!!!!

The Guest Bedroom is Open For Business! Visitors are Always Welcome!!

I am excited for how this room has come together! I am all done refinishing the furniture! Still need to hang up my curtains...and get some stuff on the walls!



Someone gave us 4 white wicker tables. I ended up using two outside, then I painted the other two for side tables.

I have to say I stole this idea from my sis-in-law. I had the hardest time finding hardware that was 2 1/2". Almost everything at H.D. or Lowes is 3". So I saw she did this on a piece she refinished, and I tried it and loved it!! All it is Jute tied in a knot. Plus it saved be at least $40!




I found this basket for $5 at an antique store in Lynchburg, TN :). The dried flowers are all flowers John has given me.


I found ths lamp for $20!! At Marshalls! So excited!

The Bed

This bed used to be John's grandpa Gossett's. I didn't get a good before picture, but it was a cherry color. I really love how it turned out!
